The Trima Accel system – is an automated blood cell separator designed for use in the collection of blood components intended for subsequent transfusion to patients. Depending on the type of tubing kit used, the Trima Accel system can collect the following blood products separately or together:

• Double doses of red blood cells in ACD-A or preservative solution (with or without leukoreduction)

• Platelets, apheresis (single, double, or triple doses)

• Platelets, apheresis, leukoreduced (single, double, or triple doses)

• Plasma

• Plasma, leukoreduced

• Red blood cells in ACD-A or storage solution (single doses)

• Red blood cells in ACD-A or storage solution, leukoreduced (single doses) using an integrated filter

Collecting more platelets: new software algorithms for platelet collection

The software has been updated for a more accurate calculation of the number of platelets mobilized by the spleen during blood collection and to predict the number of platelets in the donor after donation. These improvements may allow you to safely collect more platelets from each donor.

Reducing procedure duration: improved control of the LRS chamber and channel setup

Technical enhancements have been made to speed up blood product collection by more quickly determining the separation boundary and reducing the number of washes from the LRS chamber. This results in higher efficiency in the blood collection procedure.
